Ingeborg Reichle

Ingeborg Reichle, PhD, Professor of Media Theory, University of Spplied Arts Vienna, Austria

She has gained her PhD from the Humboldt University in Berlin with a dissertation on Art in the Age of Technoscience: Genetic Engineering, Robotics, and Artificial Life in Contemporary Art, published 2005 in German and 2009 in English, both with Springer publishers, Vienna/New York, at Humboldt University she also gained her habilitation in 2013. Currently she is the chair of the department of media theory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. Her main field of research and teaching is the encounter of the arts with cutting edge technologies like biotechnology and synthetic biology, taking into account artistic responses as well as the respective discourses in the sciences, in order to develop a critical understanding of the role of art within twenty-first century societies.
