IN SEARCH OF PLANETS LIKE THE EARTH

Nowadays, we know about 4,000 planets orbiting stars, and nature has revealed to us a wealth of planetary systems that we would never have imagined. Are there any other living beings in the universe? How long will we take to find planets like ours? How will we know if they are inhabited? These questions leave no one indifferent. The most exciting thing is that science is just one step away from supplying the answer.

In this discussion we will talk about the methods that enable us to discover exoplanets and the latest most spectacular discoveries, including the exoplanets closest to the Earth, to Proxima Centauri and to Barnard’s Star. We shall also present the future projects of this great scientific revolution that will make it possible to identify planets similar to ours and, perhaps, discover if there is life on them.
