ROBOT AND FRANK
SEASON PHENOMENA: SCIENCE-FICTION FILMS
Robot and Frank (2012) is a film by Jake Schreier that shows the relationship between an elderly man, Frank, and his robot assistant. Frank is now an old man, a jewel thief who is losing his memory. His son hires a robot to help him. Initially, he refuses it, but he will soon discover that his new companion has no moral programme, and the two of them will become good friends.
Before the screening, experts in social cognitive robotics and artificial intelligence (Cecilio Angulo), robotics and human behaviour (Anna Mura) and film (Albert Fernández) will discuss the challenges and the questions posed by the growing interactivity between humans and robots. Are we ready to live with robots? Are we already doing so and are not aware of it? How can we broaden the social and ethical debate about social robotics? Come and take part in the discussion!
