Professor of the Department of Applied Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), he is co-director of the research group Data Science and Soft Computing for Social Analytics, which has been rated as excellent by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). He is also editor of the Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas and founder of the master's degree in Official Statistics (Eurostat) at UCM.

Expert in participation and digital political communication, he works with big data and digital social networks under the theoretical prism of analytical sociology. He is the author of a significant number of articles in academic journals of excellence and has recently published books such as Big data para científicos sociales.
