Josep Lobera

Sociologist specialized in science, technology and public opinion

Professor of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and Tufts University. He has a double background in Engineering and Sociology, with studies at the universities of London, Houston (UH), the Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (Lorraine INP). Specialized in public opinion, he has been research director of the demoscopic institute Metroscopia from 2009 to 2012.

Currently, he is president of the Research Committee on Sociology of Science and Technology, of the Spanish Federation of Sociology, director of the National Survey on the Social Perception of Science and Technology, of the Ministry of Science and FECYT, and member of the Technical Working Group of the Vaccination Strategy in front of the COVID-19 of the Ministry of Health. He teaches in several university masters and is the author of about thirty publications. His research focuses mainly on attitudes and social trust towards political and scientific institutions.
