Professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona (UB) and associate researcher at the Institute of Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC). She holds a PhD in Economics by the European University Institute. She has carried out research stays in several prestigious international institutions such as Georgetown University, USA, and the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. She has published the results of her research in important journals in the field of economics such as the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics and Labour Economics, among others. She has also collaborated as a scientific advisor for the World Bank, the European Commission and the Social Observatory of the "La Caixa" Foundation.

Her research focuses on gender economics. In recent years, she has studied the interaction between social norms and the structure of both public and private institutions and their contribution to perpetuate the gender gap and the glass ceiling. In recent months, her work has focused on the impact of the health crisis on inequality in the distribution of paid and unpaid work within households and its implications for the evolution of gender inequality.
