Marc Güell

Researcher in synthetic biology and gene therapy

PhD in Biomedicine and Tenure-Track Professor at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). He leads the Translational Synthetic Biology group, which develops new technologies for gene editing and tools for engineering the skin microbiome. He is the author of articles that have earned more than 11,000 citations and patents that have been the basis of biotechnology companies developing therapies in the fields of organ transplantation, skin diseases and gene therapy.

He has recently received important recognitions such as the National Young Talent Research Award (2018), the Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher (2019), and has been chosen EMBO Young Investigator (2020). He teaches in the Biomedical Engineering degree at UPF, specifically in the subjects of Cell and Tissue Engineering, and Advanced Synthetic Biology. He is coordinator of the Master in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry (UPF).
