PhD in Physics and full professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Automatics at the University of Valladolid (UVa). She belongs to the Research Group on Energy, Economics and Dynamics of Systems (GEEDS-*UVa), a multidisciplinary team that studies the global energy perspectives resulting from peak oil and other natural limits and their repercussions on the economy and society.

She is currently involved in the European project LOCOMOTION (H2020) dedicated to the creation of an integrated energy-economy-climate change assessment model for the design of European policies for energy transition. She is the author of the blog Habas contadas and a member of the editorial board of Revista 15/15.
