Susanna Manrubia

Physicist and researcher of complexity in evolutionary biology

PhD in Physics by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). After several years at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, she joined the National Biotechnology Center (CNB-CSIC, Madrid), where she leads the Evolutionary Systems Group. Her research is focused on the study of complexity in biology from an evolutionary approach. She is also interested in the emergence of cultural patterns and collective social behavior. She believes in popularization as an essential activity to bring science closer to society. She has published more than a hundred scientific articles and two specialized books. She is now co-author of Genes and Genealogies. Sobre nuestra herencia cultural y biológica (Editorial Bromera, 2013 Catalan edition, 2014 Spanish edition).
