Philosophers Vinciane Despret and Donna Haraway join voices in this audiovisual piece by filmmaker Diana Toucedo, based on two of their fables, Haraway's The Camille Stories and Despret's L'autobiographie d' un poulpe.

In an indeterminate future, Camille and Ulysse tell the intertwined stories of the first generations of their communities of humans and non-humans, the compost communities. Camille associates symbiotically with monarch butterflies, migratory routes and habitats in the United States, Mexico and Canada are in peril. Ulysse, like all the Ulysses in the community, experiments with the possibility of living in the presence of the now extinct octopuses, learning the highly particular gestures, language and forms of sensibility.

Filmed as an oral tale and a correspondence between the two narrators and their fables, the film follows the communities' ways of living and dying on a damaged planet as well as the increasing dominance of these communities in a new scientific field, therolinguistics, or the study of animal languages. The narrators, in tune with their symbiotic companions, become increasingly sensitive to the growth possibilities of tentacular and metamorphic beings.
