The main theme of the City and Science Biennial 2021 is the limits and the Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan (PEMB) and Barcelona Demà propose to organize a series of debates in various spaces on the territorial limits of the region.

The first of all will be in the form of an itinerary and reflection on the most defined and at the same time most vulnerable territorial limit of the regional territory: the coastline. A territory that will undergo major transformations in the medium and long term, linked to the enormous urban, economic and social pressure, but above all, linked to the foreseeable consequences of the climate crisis.

The activity starts at the end of the Rambla de Barcelona, from where we will go up in two tourist buses that will take us to the top of Montjuic. From there, we will see and comment with Joan Alemany and Marc Garcia the relationship between the sea and the city facing south: the city port and the city-port, the industrial port, the Zona Franca, the mouth of the Llobregat, the airport, the beaches of Gavà, Castelldefels, the Garraf...

Then we will get back on the bus and drive along the coast towards the Besòs, commenting from the bus itself, the various projects that the Coastal Plan is developing: the citadel in the sea, the Olympic Port, the continuation of the coastal promenade, the Zoo platform, the mouth of the Besòs ... to cross the river and stop at the three chimneys, which we will visit and climb to see the north coast. From the Besòs river to Mataró.

Under the chimneys, we will open a debate with the experts: Miriam Garcia, Maria Rubert, Patricia Gimenez and Carme Ribas moderated by Ioanna Spanou.
