Globally, an estimated 1.9 billion people are overweight, of whom more than 700 million suffer from obesity. The obesity pandemic, so called because of the figures that accompany it and its global expansion, is a medical problem, but also a social one.

Beyond the biological or genetic determinants, there are a series of social and economic determinants that make some people more likely to suffer from obesity than others. In this round table we will discuss these conditioning factors and what alternatives are possible to address the problem of obesity from its most social facet.
