ICREA Professor at ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, where he leads the Quantum Information Theory Group. He earned his PhD in Physical Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 2001. His research has been recognized with four European Research Council grants (1 Starting, 1 Proof of Concept, 1 Consolidator, and 1 Advanced Grant), the most recent beginning on January 1, 2020. Since 2016, he has also held an AXA Chair in Quantum Information. In 2024, he was awarded the King Jaume I Prize from the Generalitat Valenciana in the category of Basic Research.
