Theoretical physicist with expertise in high-energy physics and quantum computing
Director of the Center for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore and head of research at the Quantum Research Center of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi. He received his PhD in elementary particle physics and was a postdoc at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA and the Niels Bohr Institute in Denmark. He became a full professor and then professor of theoretical physics (now on leave of absence) at the University of Barcelona (UB).
He has worked extensively in high-energy physics, quantum computing and artificial intelligence, supervising seventeen doctoral theses. He has written three popular science books and created two documentaries. He is also founder of the company Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, which is building the first quantum computer in southern Europe.
