Paul Thomas

Honorary Professor at the University of New South Wales (Sydney) and a pioneering artist at the intersection of art and science. In 2000, he founded the Biennale of Electronic Arts Perth in Western Australia, where he also served as director. His internationally exhibited work is grounded in scientific research and explores the connections between quantum phenomena and artistic practice. In Quantum Chaos (2022), he investigates the liminal space between the quantum and classical worlds. He is the author of Nanoart: The Immateriality of Art (Intellect, 2013) and Quantum Art and Uncertainty (Intellect, 2018), and editor of The Encyclopedia of New Media Art, Volume II: Artists and Practice (Bloomsbury, 2025). His most recent work is Concerning the Quantum in Art (Routledge, 2025).
