Carla Simón
After graduating in Audiovisual Communication in Barcelona and studying at the London Film School, Carla Simón (Catalonia, 1986) began her career with Estiu 1993 (2017). Awarded Best First Film at the Berlinale, she collected more than 30 awards worldwide including the Women in Motion at Cannes 2018. Her second film, Alcarràs (2022) won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale and was selected at more than 90 international festivals. Both represented Spain at the Oscars. In 2023, Simón was recognized with the National Cinematography Award. Romería (2025) is her third film, which premiered in the Official Section of the Cannes Film Festival.
