Cinema has always been a creative field particularly attuned to scientific advances. It also incorporates a number of concepts —such as point of view, temporal non-linearity, the role of chance, and the almost infinite possibilities that life presents— which are part of its narrative corpus and closely related to some of the ideas of quantum mechanics.
This film series will explore these relationships and reflect on the influence of quantum theory on cinematic language through the screening of three films —Run Lola Run (Tom Tykwer, 1998), Primer (Shane Carruth, 2004), and Jackie Brown (Quentin Tarantino, 1997)—, each preceded by a discussion between a film expert and a quantum theory specialist.
