Emeritus Professor and Honorary Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona and of the Academies of Sciences of Granada and Zaragoza. She is a Fellow member of the U.S. organization Optica (formerly OSA), as well as of the international research societies SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics), IOP (Institute of Physics), and EOS (European Optical Society), which named her Honorary Member in 2025. She is also an Honorary Member of the RSEF (Royal Spanish Society of Physics) and SEDOPTICA (Spanish Optical Society). She has been awarded honorary doctorates from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche and the University of Granada, the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise, and the Physics Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics and the BBVA Foundation, among other honors.
