In 2004, the Biblioteca de Catalunya gave the creative platform La Perla 29 a space located on the ground floor of the northeast nave of the former Hospital de la Santa Creu for theatrical use. La Perla 29 usually works with plays from the repertoire of European theatre, in a handcrafted and participatory creative process that takes into account the specificity of the place and the proximity to the audience.
